Sometimes her mom would be away from home for
days—leaving the teen to cook, clean, do laundry and
look after her siblings. When the electricity was cut off
because their bills were not paid, it was even harder for
Julie to care for the house.
During this time, her church family helped Julie weather the
storms of her step-father’s suicide and her mother’s rapid
decline. They prayed for her, visited the family, and provided
food, financial support, clothing, and heating fuel.
Through it all, God developed a strong, humble character
in Julie that allowed her to overcome these hardships.
Despite the protests of relatives and villagers, a few years
ago Julie was baptized and joined the church.
When war broke out in Ukraine, Julie was forced to leave
her village. Again the church family was there for her—
The congregation spent much time praying about Julie’s
future. It was God’s answer to their prayers, when she was
offered a place to live and to go to school in Kiev.
Today, Julie attends school and remains active in her church
community. God and his people have been good to her.
Many people in Ukraine are suffering from the effects of
war. Homes have been destroyed, families torn apart, and
lives lost. Many, like Julie, face difficult times and are in
need of the hope that can only be found through Jesus.
Children’s Bible Clubs introduce children across Ukraine to
Jesus and give churches an effective way to reach out.

After working in the fields all day, Priya’s dad came home drunk—and
turned violent. He often beat Priya’s mom. One night, Priya and her
mom tried to stop him from drinking at home. Priya’s dad kicked and
slapped them both—showing no mercy. 9-year-old Priya managed to
escape and ran out of their hut. Sobbing, she raced to a corner of the
village and sat down. The marks on her skin burned and ached.
A leader from the local Bible League Canada Bible club saw Priya crying
and asked what was the matter. Shaking and crying, Priya told her the
whole story. The leader walked Priya home, introduced herself to Priya’s
mom and prayed for Priya’s dad. Priya soon began attending the Bible
Club. She loved the songs and stories! At home, Priya told her mom
about the love of Jesus.
Priya prayed that Jesus would transform her father.
After time, her dad stopped drinking and is no longer abusive.
Today, Priya and her whole family attend church together. Pray that
they all receive Jesus as their Saviour.
Many in India live in poverty and families struggle just to survive.
Children trapped in this cycle often feel hopeless and like they
have nowhere to turn. Through Children’s Bible Clubs, Bible
League Canada is helping to offer hope to the unreached children
