holy Spirit, whom when we let him will
tirelessly fight our battles, advocate on
our behalf and equip us to face anything
When worldly opinions influence us, it
can seem like being a christian is a dis-
advantage. Sometimes it feels like the
world, the government and especially
the media send us messages saying we
can believe in and worship God as long
as we keep it to ourselves. There have
been instances where the government
has discouraged christians to publicly
worship God on platforms that have the
capacity to influence nonbelievers be-
cause the name of Jesus is mentioned.
We want to proclaim the name of Jesus
because we know as christians that
God’s word has power and that the
Truth sets people free (John 8: 32).
in spite of the walls built before us, you
and i are called to be the salt and light of
this world, meaning we were called to
influence the world with our God-given
elements, power, knowledge of the
Truth, love and characteristics, all things
which are essential to impact those that
are our lost and broken neighbours.
Be encouraged and remember that
even though the world may seem to
have it all, we have the greatest gift,
Jesus christ and everlasting life. pray
for others, and remember God has
given us the supernatural power of his
holy Spirit to live differently than we
would naturally do in this world.
a lot of things in our christian walk
don’t make sense, and many never will
to a worldly point of view, perhaps even
to us. however, one thing to always
keep in mind is to never conform to
the patterns, customs, mentality and
behaviours of this world (romans 12: 2).
Get into a community: Go to a church
regularly and form friendships with older
christians who have experienced and
done things and can advise you.
confess your struggles to your pastor,
youth leader or other friends: reaching
out can help deal with the battle in your
mind that can lead to temptation.
resist temptation by making other
plans: Find alternative outings or activities when you know you will be in a
situation of temptation.
